Targetone Nursing Platform ("Targetone NP", "we", "us", "our") provides study resources, past papers, and revision tools for nursing and midwifery students in Zambia. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and the rights you have over it. It applies to everyone who uses our website and mobile app.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information when you create an account and use the platform:

• Account information: your name, email address, and password (stored securely, never in plain text)
• Academic information: your profession/program (e.g. General Nursing, Midwifery) and year of study, used to show you relevant courses and past papers
• Usage information: papers you view or bookmark, quiz and task progress, points earned, and notes you complete
• Notification data: a device token if you enable push notifications, and your notification preferences
• Questions you ask our AI study assistant ("Study Buddy"), including any text you highlight from papers to ask about
• Technical information: IP address and basic device/browser information, used for security and to keep view counts accurate

2. Why We Collect It

We use your information only for purposes connected to running the platform:

• To create and manage your account, and keep you signed in securely
• To show you past papers and courses relevant to your profession and year of study
• To track your bookmarks, quiz results, and study progress so you can pick up where you left off
• To send you notifications about new papers, notes, or tasks, if you've enabled them
• To power the Study Buddy AI assistant, which answers your questions using the paper you're currently viewing
• To maintain the security and reliability of the platform, and to detect misuse

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising.

3. Where Your Data Is Stored

Your account and study data is stored using Supabase, a hosted database provider, with encryption in transit. Uploaded papers and files are stored on our web hosting provider. We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data against unauthorised access, loss, or misuse.

4. Third Parties We Share Data With

We work with a small number of third-party services necessary to run the platform:

• Supabase — our database provider, which stores your account and study data
• Google Gemini API — when you use Study Buddy, your question and the relevant excerpt of the paper you're viewing are sent to Google's AI service to generate a response. We do not send your name, email, or account details as part of this
• Push notification services — used to deliver notifications to your device if you've opted in

We do not share your personal information with any other third party for marketing or commercial purposes.

5. Cookies and Local Storage

We use your browser's local storage (not third-party tracking cookies) to remember simple preferences, such as whether dark mode is enabled and whether you've already seen our splash screen or onboarding tour. This information stays on your device and is not sent to us.

6. How Long We Keep Your Data

We keep your personal data for as long as your account is active and you continue using the platform. If you delete your account, we will remove or anonymise your personal data, except where we are required to retain certain records for a limited period for legal, security, or administrative purposes.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data
• Request deletion of your account and associated data
• Withdraw consent for notifications at any time, through your device or app settings
• Ask us questions about how your data is used

Targetone NP is intended for students enrolled in nursing and midwifery training programs. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under the age of 16 outside of this context.
